Vitamins are a group of organic compounds that poultry require in small quantities. Despite the low requirement levels, vitamins are essential for normal body functions, growth, and reproduction. A deficiency of one or more vitamins can lead to a number of diseases or syndromes. Vitamins are divided into two categories: fat-soluble and water-soluble. The fat-soluble vitamins are A, D, E, and K. Vitamin A is required for normal growth and development of epithelial tissue (skin and the linings of the digestive, reproductive, and respiratory tracts) and reproduction. Vitamin D3 is required for normal growth, bone development, and eggshell formation. Vitamin K is essential for blood clot formation. The water-soluble vitamins include vitamin C and the B vitamins. The B vitamins include vitamin B12, biotin, folacin, niacin, pantothenic acid, pyridoxine, riboflavin, and thiamin. The B vitamins are involved in many metabolic functions, including energy metabolism. Poultry can make vitamin C, so there is no dietary requirement established for this vitamin. Vitamin C supplementation is useful when birds are in stress.
The veterinary APIs market is currently stable, although there are varying trends across different categories. In early February, prior to the Spring Festival, market sentiment was weak, leading to lighter transaction volumes. Following the holiday, the price of mequindox has seen an upward trend, supported by stronger cost-side factors. Manufacturers of amoxicillin have maintained firm pricing, while the market displays a strong wait-and-see attitude. Categories such as doxycycline hyclate,...

1. Introduction The poultry industry in the United States is one of the largest food industries worldwide, and chickens are commonly reared for meat production [1]. Annually, this industry generates over 10 million tons of litter to accommodate the growing number of birds necessary to meet consumer demands [2]. The poultry industry is faced with numerous challenges, the focal point being the issue of health. Several authors have posited diverse factors that impact the composition and...
This review, titled "Níveis vitamínicos para frangos de corte" (Vitamin levels for broilers), by Ananda Portella Félix, Alex Maiorka, and José Otávio Berti Sorbara, and published in Ciência Rural, March-April 2009, analyzes current concepts for evaluating broiler vitamin requirements and the levels suggested by both the scientific community and the industry. The core finding is that vitamin supplementation at levels higher than the minimum...
ARLINGTON, Va. – The American Feed Industry Association (AFIA) is calling on U.S. policymakers, trade officials and the food and agriculture industry to work together on mitigating the potential threat of a U.S. vitamin and amino acid supply disruption. The call comes following the release today...
The demand for "Golden September and Silver October" fell below expectations. In September, the market exhibited signs of a significant recovery, with tentative rebounds. However, in October, the overall market trend shifted from strength to weakness, entering a phase of volatility. The factors driving price increases from the supply side are gradually diminishing. Categories that were previously strong have experienced compensatory declines as the market moved from divergence to consensus,...
Background Chicken may be enriched with 25-hydroxy D3 [25(OH)D3] and docosahexaenoic acid (DHA) to enhance the public's dietary intake. Objectives Two experiments (Expt.) were conducted to determine the potential and metabolic impacts of enriching both DHA and 25(OH)D3 in the tissues of broiler chickens. Methods In Expt. 1, 144 chicks (6 cages/treatment and 6 birds/cage) were fed a corn–soybean meal basal diet (BD), BD + 10,000 IU...

I. INTRODUCTION The significance of vitamin K (VK) to human health, well-being and ageing is currently receiving worldwide attention. Beyond its role in coagulation, the importance of VK in bone health is well established. Other roles in cardiovascular disease, inflammatory response, neural and cognitive health are currently under investigation (Card et al., 2014). Vitamin K 1 (phylloquinone, VK 1 ), occurs naturally in Fresh, Leafy, Green, (FLG) plant...
The veterinary APIs market is experiencing stability with prices across most categories showing minimal fluctuations and a gradual absorption of channel inventories. Key products like doxycycline, neomycin sulfate, and erythromycin thiocyanate have sustained steady prices attributed to factory maintenance and restricted order policies. However, certain sectors are encountering sustained price pressures due to the gradual introduction of new production capacities. Market activities are...
Heat stress is a huge problem in farm animals, as their welfare and performance can be negatively affected by extreme environmental conditions. When animals are exposed to very high or low temperatures outside their comfort range, they might experience heat stress. This can bring about various unfavorable consequences, such as decreased food intake, reduced zootechnical performance, alterations in the immune system, and increased susceptibility to diseases. Mechanisms through which...
I. INTRODUCTION Chicken meat and egg production has been on the increase in all continents with the highest increases in Asia and South America (Mandal, 2010). High temperatures coupled with high humidity impose severe stress on birds and can cause huge economic loss. Such loss is due to reduced performance, immune suppression, and an increase in respiratory disease and mortality (Mandal, 2010). Exposure of chickens to high temperature also increases the induction of heat shock...

Introduction: Due to the constant genetic evolution in both the production of broilers, nutritionists must constantly adapt their nutritional recommendations and feeding programs to maximize economic results at all times. These management and nutrition decisions must take into account: the animal (potential for growth), environmental conditions and the composition of the feed, which affect feed consumption and, consequently, the performance of birds. And economic...
