For birds laying in battery cages the best approach is to decongest number of birds per cell. From 4 or 5 to 2. So that they can have space to flap their wings. The hot period is about 8 weeks. Then have Holden pens to drop the birds outside the battery cages in deep litters. Try to program the birds to start laying two weeks before the end of heat zones. So that they can peak just immediately aft ...

@Dr Charles Ibe - I fully agree, because the first physiological response in the body required when osmotic disturbances occure, specifically under heat stress conditions, is the osmolytic response; and Betaine is the most efficient osmolyte and acts as a first aid/ nutritional aid at the cells level, to restore the cell status to prevent dehydration and even apoptosis, in sever cases. Betaine dur ...

Betaine all the way as osmo regulatory nutritional support the strategies I listed a while ago. Thanks

In order to assign a calcium value to a phytase it has to be done in the equation for digestible calcium (Ca dig) together with the Ca dig values of the other ingredients as phytase does not supply Ca tot per se.

Dear SirsTalking about nutritional alternatives to mitigate heat stress; maybe you can consider the use of Betain as an important osmoregulator. There is more than enough practical and basic research on this issue.Nice topic.Alfredo Irazusta.Alinat SRL.Argentina.

@Luis Fernando Vergamini Luna Yes it is. It is not correct to use matrix indicators of individual enzymes, since in practice a mixture of enzymes is always used. For example, if you want to use only xylanase, then a reasonable question arises: does your feed consist of only wheat? And of course, it is wrong to simply use the sum of matrix values, since enzymes interact both with substrates and wit ...

Dear Rami Unfortunately still many of the nutrients in feed specification for poultry is crude, like CP , CF , EE and of course Ca. Ca is usually over supplied to the poultry diet from many sources like: Drinking water (as a rule of thumb poultry take water twice the feed intake) , Carrier in premix , concentrate , pro-prebiotics also as anti-caking agent in SBM. For example when you add 1 kg ...

Great points! Matrix values of enzymes should be used cautiously as they might not always be accurate. Different factors such as birds’ age, dietary antinutrients, disease, and environmental conditions can affect the efficacy of enzymes in diets. Another concern in using these values is related to enzyme additivity issues. Nutritionists must be careful when reviewing the total matrix applied ...

Zahed Abbasi, I would just comment that to keep a look out on feed intake also, if it drops it could be a sign that indeed the enzyme is working, but because energy to all othe nutrients ratio wasn't changed that the birds now have decreased daily intake of all nutrients and could therefor also show no gain in performance parameters, even in some circumstances show a loss! But that is not the enz ...
