Hello dear all. My topic question is: How can we stop Infectious bronchitis infections in layers birds in cages? Because in my 29 years of poultry production, almost every flock is hit by IB in layers. What should b the vaccinations schedule for IB control pl Its in pakistan ...
I would be grateful if somebody could explain me: A flock was vaccinated with Ma 5 and clone 30. Sample collected 3 weeks post vaccination. Using Elisa the response to IB was low although within the expected range. Elisa was conducted for Mg. Ms., ART. In addition to AI, the titer was normal. PCR was conducted only Ms was detected at Ct 29. I would like to ask why the mean titer of Ms was low. ...
I. INTRODUCTION The meat chicken industry is growing rapidly as a result of an increasing population, relatively low production costs and excellent marketability with regards to affordability, sustainability and minimal religious restrictions. Poultry diets with lower crude protein (CP) have generated global interest from the meat chicken industry due to the benefits concluded by published literature. Low protein (LP) diets have been identified to lower feed costs, improve feed...
I. INTRODUCTION Poultry feed is routinely pelleted for many reasons such as increased feed intake, feed efficiency, and feed hygiene (Abdollahi et al., 2013). However, pelleting is not without its drawbacks, particularly when using higher pelleting temperatures (Abdollahi et al., 2010). The industry has been trending towards ever higher conditioning temperatures due, at least in part, to efforts to improve feed hygiene and thus decrease reliance on in-feed antibiotics for prevention...
RNA genome viruses, such as the avian infectious bronchitis virus, lack a proofreading mechanism during their replication. This means that, unlike DNA organisms, which have enzymes that can correct errors in their genetic material, RNA viruses tend to accumulate mutations more rapidly either through point mutation phenomena or recombination. This high rate of antigenic changes can influence their ability to adapt and evade the immune system, posing a challenge in the proper use of vaccine...
INTRODUCTION Foodborne infections caused by Salmonella enterica are of primary importance worldwide. The WHO estimates that Salmonella causes more than 153 million illnesses, 120,281 deaths, and 8.27 million disability-adjusted life years annually (1). As foodstuffs can be contaminated in several parts of the food chain, a “from farm to table” approach is necessary to understand the epidemiology of Salmonella. Although Salmonella can contaminate vegetables, food-producing...
QX is a very bad problem. The affected birds look good because ovulation is not affected. The eggs don't form because of damaged oviduct. We see birds with eggs and albumin in the abdomen ( penguin poster. Now a days ib multi strain killed vaccines are available which include qx with respiratory and nephritis strains....
@Daniel Mc Elroy My suggestions are: 1- Make sure the female broiler breeders not to be infected with AIBV strains such as D388 genotype of QX, Mass 33, and Australian T strain before 3 weeks age and even though before peak of production (37 weeks age) by bio-security and good vaccination with effective vaccines. 2- In case of AIB infection occurred before 3 weeks age; a. Percentage of infection should be determined. b. Strain/s of the AIB virus should be...

1. Introduction Infectious laryngotracheitis (ILT) is an economically concerning disease in the poultry industry. This highly contagious disease is caused by Gallidalphaherpes virus type1 (GaHV 1), commonly known as infectious laryngotracheitis virus (ILTV) [1]. ILT is characterized by severe dyspnea, cough, and rales, while the sub-acute form is characterized by nasal and ocular discharge, tracheitis, conjunctivitis, and mild rales [2]. Chickens of all ages are prone to...
1. Introduction Feed materials, such as wheat and maize, are known to be major variables when formulating poultry diets, as their nutrient profile and quality are often inconsistent and deviate from default values used by feed formulation software [1]. Additionally, the feed industry has access to a wide range of feedstuffs and the use of a particular ingredient will often depend on its cost, since least cost formulation algorithms are the industry standard [2]. Whilst...
1. Introduction Emerging biomarkers hold the potential to revolutionize veterinary medicine by enabling swift disease diagnosis, enhancing animal health monitoring, and optimizing welfare and production efficiency [1]. Nevertheless, the journey from biomarker identification to practical application is often fraught with challenges. Existing diagnostic tools for assessing gut health in poultry suffer from drawbacks, including invasiveness, subjectivity, labor intensiveness, and/or...
Introduction Recently, higher dietary arginine (Arg) levels than the recommended values in nutritional tables have been reported (Murakami et al. 2012; Xu et al., 2018; Zampiga et al.,2018; Oliveira et al., 2022). This suggests that Arg levels needed for maximum performance are increased in modern broilers. The high dietary Arg levels found in the literature may be associated with the critical roles played by Arg in animal metabolism. Besides enhancing protein synthesis via...
1. Introduction Coccidiosis, caused by the protozoan parasite of the genus Eimeria, remains a significant threat to poultry health worldwide, leading to substantial economic losses [1]. The infection of coccidia presents multifaceted challenges to broiler health and productivity. Numerous studies have highlighted its detrimental effects on nutrient utilization, intestinal integrity, and the growth performance of birds [2–5]. On the other hand, previous research has also...
