Correct body weight at the time of light stimulation with correct light program with optimum intensity,diet with adequate levels of Ca and P,correct environmental temperature to reduce pecking and a debeaked flock(May be a welfare issue in some places) should help in minimizing the Prolapse problem.

we must notice during rearing processes Flocks that are over fed and exceed target body weights between 15 weeks of age and light stimulation will commonly exhibit .may be suffer from some problems such as 1-Early onset of lay 2-increased incidence of double yolks 3-Reduced hatching egg yield 4-Increased feed requirement through lay 5-Reduced peek,persistancy of total eggs 6-REDUCED FERTILITY OF MALES AND FEMALES 7-INCREASED INCIDENCE OF PERITONITIS AND PROLAPSE 8-LOSS OF SEXUAL SYNCHRONIZATION BETWEEN MALE AND FEMALE

Dear, I come from Bangladesh.
Actually prolapse is a very serious problem in laying birds. It's mainly a management problem. I mean & my practical experience that this problem creates from day old chicks if the lighting management disrupted. Mostly common prolapse cause is lighting intensity management. Others cause includes-

* Overweight * Calcium & vitamins deficiency * Genetic cause* Feed formulation not accurate * Sunlight problem * Worms infestation & double yolk egg percentage more * high Environmental temperature means heat stress * Loose motion & Indigestion.

Thanks

Hi to all;
There are two phenomena that sometimes are called prolapse but in reality they are not.
1- Vent pecking; after oviposition part of oviduct remains outside of body for seconds and will be pecked by others, cloaca and intestine be eaten and a big hole remains. Somebody called this situation as prolapse but it is not.
2- Cloacitis: recently in aged modern layer a new problem is seen that was called cloaca inflammation, usually it will be seen in hens that lose their weight, especially lose the abdominal fat, and in aged flocks with low uniformity, the sore cloaca protrusion is apparent in live and dead hens also it is not prolapse.
These two phenomena have different causes and different solutions for prolapse.

Zahed Abbasi, Here, we have the same results. specially nº 1. It is always effective to reduce the size of the egg, to reduce prolapses. Less methinine, less unsaturated oils ..... But we cannot correct genetics and "hasty" breeding.

If one really wants to do a professional approach about prolapse - it needs to start already in rearing and overall management of the flocks. To pick up just one aspect, will never give a real success.

Yes, we need more information about it. We have lots of prolapse cases at the age of 26 to 29 weeks. How to avoid it in Broiler Breeder and what's the line of treatment?

Hello everyone I also see this recently. When the uniformity of the flock is compromised then such types of problems we have to face.
Uniformity means when we collect layer birds every week for calculation we easily measure that is the flock uniform or not. For example, from 1 week to 16 week we have to achieve approximately body weight of 1300gm if we fail means some birds have improper reproductive system development, less feed take due to which they are deficient of certain feed ingredients like Ca, P, etc., cause such type of problems.
