can we us liquid choline chloride as it help in fatty liver syndrome which cause the sudden death syndrome in broiler

Broilers send to the processing plant can see dead in boxes showing pathological lesions related to SDS. ( most of them are male birds, heavy weight, lung congestion and edema, kidney hemorrhages, and atria filled with clotted blood.). Please let me know whether it is Sudden Death Syndrome in Broilers or not?

I would like to add that incidence of SDS is seen mainly during summer months. Along with low protein diet & restricted feeding, use of Vitamins like A, D, E & C will definately lower the stress on the birds as well as Vit E & C will act as immunomodulator.

I wish to share my views in this regard..

1) Broiler breeds are evolved with modifications in their genetic traits to give the best out put in terms of productivity viz. maximum weight gain in short duration so the nutrients supplied to them should be as per their requirements.

2) if we reduce the density of diet then the breed can not perform up to its level of standards so optimum nutrition is must to get the utmost utilization of breed's characteristics.



3) I wish to share some practical ideas to overcome the problem of Sudden Death Syndrome in Broilers without hampering the productivity and to get full utilization of breed characteristics with optimum nutrition.

a) Use Meat cum bone meal @ 4-5 % in Grower diet as this contains up to 6 % Fat(Maximum Saturated)

b) Use the 50% - 50 % blend of corn oil or Soya Oil with Animal Fat or crude Palm Oil; as Saturated Fatty acids have beneficial role to overcome such problems.

c) Try to fed the birds 4 to 5 times a day.

d) Try to maintain the acid base balance by providing extra electrolyes through drinking water or through feed.

Necessary change in dietary management practice as discussed in the forum including stress relieve management, toxicity prevention management & immunity development program generally helps to reduce incidence of Sudden Death Syndrome in Broilers. High yield breeds are mostly succumbing to SDS.

Dear All,
I do remember the Sudden Death Syndrome in Broilers since 20 years. We noticed it in fast growing birds after vegetable oil is incorporated in the feed to increase the ME value.Formulating feed with proper balancing of dig amino acids, glucose, fatyy acids could reduce the syndrome. The problem of micotoxin was another problem. In all cases the LDH was higher and liver affection is noticed. Hope more work will be done on this to educe th economic loss to the poultry farmers
