Further, I´'d like to add a few more points here:

1. All fast growing commercial strains and breeds are susceptible.

2. Flip over (SDS) and water belly (Ascites) are both metabolic diseases having common etiology and both share symptoms like edema and cardiac involvement. when condition is acute it causes Sudden Death Syndrome in Broilers and chronic condition results in Ascites.

3. In SDS Uuse of Potassium bicarbonate @ 0.62 g/bird in water helps to reduce mortality. Moreover, light programme s'd be adjusted such that curtailment in feeding time occurs until the glycogen function of the liver gets recovered.

Altitude is also something to consider in SDS as the thin supply of oxygen in high altitudes places more demand on the heart to supply oxygen to tissues in fast growing bird. Dietary levels of Vitamin E and C and also Selenium should be of concern in SDS.

What can I do to keep my 4 to 5 weeks broiler from dying. Please, help.
