@Ana Gavrau Natural betaine generally has the property of expanding the limits of comfortable temperature, both in the direction of increasing temperature and in the direction of decreasing temperature (this is important for countries with a cold climate). In addition, betaine is a good hepatoprotector. Therefore, my clients get good results, especially on laying hens.

@Dr. Fiodor S. Marchenkov - yes Dr. Marchenkov, you are completely right because osmoregulation is an essential process and a high energy consuming one :), which allows organisms to maintain the electrolyte balance at the cellular level, despite changes in the external environment- such as temperature, diet, and weather conditions. And yes, Betaine can help not only during heat stress – therefore ...

Dear Piotr, thank you very much for your point of view. It helps me use enzymes correctly, depending on the available substrates contained in the feed. I think that attention should also be paid to the methods of feed enzymes application, which have historically been used in different countries, this is 1) "over the top" of complete feed (for maximum absorption of nutrients) and also 2) "down spec ...

For birds laying in battery cages the best approach is to decongest number of birds per cell. From 4 or 5 to 2. So that they can have space to flap their wings. The hot period is about 8 weeks. Then have Holden pens to drop the birds outside the battery cages in deep litters. Try to program the birds to start laying two weeks before the end of heat zones. So that they can peak just immediately aft ...

@Dr Charles Ibe - I fully agree, because the first physiological response in the body required when osmotic disturbances occure, specifically under heat stress conditions, is the osmolytic response; and Betaine is the most efficient osmolyte and acts as a first aid/ nutritional aid at the cells level, to restore the cell status to prevent dehydration and even apoptosis, in sever cases. Betaine dur ...

In order to assign a calcium value to a phytase it has to be done in the equation for digestible calcium (Ca dig) together with the Ca dig values of the other ingredients as phytase does not supply Ca tot per se.

Dear SirsTalking about nutritional alternatives to mitigate heat stress; maybe you can consider the use of Betain as an important osmoregulator. There is more than enough practical and basic research on this issue.Nice topic.Alfredo Irazusta.Alinat SRL.Argentina.

@Luis Fernando Vergamini Luna Yes it is. It is not correct to use matrix indicators of individual enzymes, since in practice a mixture of enzymes is always used. For example, if you want to use only xylanase, then a reasonable question arises: does your feed consist of only wheat? And of course, it is wrong to simply use the sum of matrix values, since enzymes interact both with substrates and wit ...
