Thanks for the great fat digestibility overview. Dear Dr. Marchenkov, would be possible to modulate a microbiota profile toward a better fat digestability?

Dear Luis Fernando Vergamini Luna, yes it is possible. Some microorganisms, such as some types of yeast, can secrete active lipase, which helps to digest fats. On the other hand, good secretion of bile acids reduces the toxic effects of mycotoxins. At the same time, the total number of microorganisms in the intestine increases and this increases the ability to assimilate all potentially nutrients, including lipids. Thanks a lot for your question.

Dr. Fiodor S. Marchenkov, Thank-you for the video. Could you perhaps include an explanation of how Commercial Emulsifiers play a role?

Dear Mr. George Entz, this is an interesting topic. From a chemical point of view, both bile acids and esters of glycerol and fatty acids, such as glycerol monostearate (GMS), are emulsifiers. They can emulsify fats that enter the intestines with food. It is possible that GMS can activate lipase to some extent, but not as effectively (10-fold increasing) as bile acids do. GMS is attractive in that it is used mainly in the food industry and is readily available on the market. At the same time, GMS cannot be reused in the liver through the portal vein, as bile acids do. That is, chemical emulsifiers in this case do not perform the function of counteracting mycotoxins and other toxic substances. It can be said that chemical emulsifiers are less versatile than natural emulsifiers, because natural emulsifiers are better adapted to the physiology of animals and birds.

Dr. Fiodor S. Marchenkov, Hello again, is there a way to increase or modulate the increase of bile acids or other natural Emulsifiers?

George Entz Dear Dr. Entz, the answer to this question can only be imagined theoretically. The fact is that bile acids and other emulsifiers have significant differences in chemical structure. Accordingly, the routes of synthesis of these compounds are very different. Thus, bile acids are steroid-type compounds, and their synthesis is associated with cholesterol metabolism. At the same time, emulsifiers of chemical origin can be considered as surfactants, and it is difficult to say how they can be formed in vivo. Most likely, in order to obtain positive results on weight gain and feed conversion, both natural emulsifiers and synthetic emulsifiers should be added to the diet without taking into account possible ways of their endogenous synthesis.

Dr. Fiodor S. Marchenkov, Thank-you for your insights. If I may, I would like to add that the video was enjoyable and if there is anyone out there that enjoys such videos and would like to view some old webinars on lipid digestion to head over to Kemin Industries. Dr. Fiodor S. Marchenkov Good comments. Lot of layers in China has problem with liver, burst liver due to accumualted fat. The solution is quite simple, add 1kg of bile acid (30%) in 1mt of feed for several days.

James S Tuan Yes,it is. Betaine is very reasonable decision. But mode of action is different if to compare with bile acids. Maybe is reason to combine these two additives, to obtain synergic effect.

fatai adeyemi yisau Dear Mr. Fatai, in my opinion, the problems with poultry in this case are related to the recipe of the feed. Some receptionists try to maximize the fat content of food to achieve maximum energy. However, the programs have real limits on all components of feed, including fat. You can exceed these limits for fat, but you should use appropriate additives - enzymes and bile acids. Without them, the bird will physiologically suffer from diarrhea, obesity and other symptoms. I can offer you to send me a recipe for the feed you use, so that the specialists of my company can find out what the imbalance is. My email address is marchenkov150@gmail.com welcome.

Yes Am interested in this topic because last year my laying birds had problems they were just dying in large quantities every day. Then I called a vet doctor to check reason why they are dying. After carried the check he discovered they had too much Fat and CRD. Then he describes some drug for it at long run I loose them all. Later on we heard that there was an outstanding break of a diseases called Avian influencer. Which we were told that no drug can cure it around the world now. Please I would like to know what we do to reduce fat and CRD in laying birds to allow them lay very well and equally stop their dead. Thanks

fatai adeyemi yisau Dear Fatai firstly are you the one making your own feed or you are using commercial feed? If you are making your own feed then check the ingredients you are using and the formulation. If its commercial feed you are using and there is still excessive fat deposition then add choline chloride which will enable them burn the excess fat then give them heparenol a liver tonic to reduce fat in your layer birds

fatai adeyemi yisau Dear Fatai, if we go by the video, fat reduction solution has been discussed, therefore having a review of your feed will be important. What feed do you buy or do you do your milling yourself? You can solve this question by doing a proximate analysis on your feed. As for CRD, there are factors that could have prevented your birds from getting better which could be; 1) Compromised immunity 2) Other complicating infections 3) Drug choice and dosing 4) Antibiotic resistance which can be solved by doing a sensitivity test. I have a long range of drugs i use to take care of crd and currently i have none on my farm.

fatai adeyemi yisau Dear Mr.Yisau, Yes, fat excess is unpleasant thing at laying hens. At first, less meat quality (at old hens) and second, fatty liver syndrome (increase mortality). Don't forget also about possible mycotoxin intoxication. So, combination of fatty acids, betaine and hepatoprotector (sylimarine) is very reasonable. My firm produces original premix, containing these ingredients as well as special bacteries destroying mycotoxins. If you have more questions, please ask me, I`m ready to help.

Dr. Fiodor S. Marchenkov. which is the maximum of fat in the diet of a laying hen that eats 120gr of an aliment with 2800 kcal 17 % of protein (15 % of P. digestible) and a good amino acid composition. Thinking of this amount with alfa sugars.

Daniel Carlos Besso Dear Daniel, thanks for info. I think so, it is reasonable level. To be sure in result, lipase + bile acids are reasonable, too. On the other hand, in this case, is possible to try to decrease a little bit fat content in recipe, to decrease feed cost.

Hi Fatai : You mentioned tow reasons for high mortality in your layer flock one CRD and the other high body weight(too much fat) we can talk about each one separatly . 1- CRD - the disease is not so fatal as you told about your flock ,the disease agent mycoplasma may be transfer from breeder flock to day old chick or flock be contaminated in rearing or production period ,CRD in layer flock mostly affects rate of production and no high mortality . if your flock is CRD positive you must treat it by antibiotic to reduce its affect on production and mortality .CRD isnot the cause of too much fat of flock . 2- The other problem you mention is accumulation of too much fat . too much fat in abdomen is because of imbalance feed when the energy is higher than the need of layer , it finally causes a syndrome called "FATY LIVER HEMORRAGIC SYNDROME" that induces high mortality in layer flock especially in hot season like summer . you must prevent it by prepare balance feed in energy and amino acid and mineral also you most weigh you hens randomly every week to mange its variation in increase or decrease of weight , good oil and fat in feed is necessary to prevent FLHS .

The digestibility of fats &oils depend on many factors 1.the age of the bird 2.healthy microvilli in upper intestine.3.the chain length of the fatty A.4.the number of double bonds of fatty A.5.the form of fat either triglycerides or free fatty A.6.the ratio of unsaturated to saturated fatty A.
