Alternative feed additives have promising importance in broiler production due to the ban on the use of certain antibiotics. The most used antibiotic alternatives in broiler production are phytogenics, organic acids, prebiotics, probiotics, enzymes, and their derivatives. Antibiotic alternatives have been reported to increase feed intake, stimulate digestion, improve feed efficiency, increase growth performance, and reduce the incidence of diseases by modulating the intestinal microbiota and immune system, inhibiting pathogens, and improving intestinal integrity. Simply, the gut microbiota is the target to raise the health benefits and growth-promoting effects of feed additives on broilers. Therefore, naturally available feed additives are promising antibiotic alternatives for broilers.
Introduction
Antibiotics have been widely used in animal production for decades. Although some are used therapeutically to improve the health and wellbeing of animals, most were given for prophylactic purposes and to improve growth rate and FCR efficiency. However, due to the emergence of microbes resistant to antibiotics, which are used to treat human and animal infections, the European Commission banned the...
The symposium will be held at Convention Centre at Port Aventura, Salou-Vila-seca, Tarragona, Spain, and will take place between 8–11 May 2017.
This Symposium has become a relevant scientific event, stimulator of scientific interchanges, every two years. The participation has been raised in the recent meetings, with an increase number of delegates from non-European countries. The program will be focused on aspects such as thermoregulation, early feeding,...
Introduction Apart from an important role of medicinal herbs, aromatic plants and spices in daily human nutrition for enhancement of taste, aroma and colour of food, these additives have also been efficiently used in animal nutrition for improvement of animal health and wellbeing. With the ban of antibiotics use in animal nutrition due to the emergence of microbe resistance, alternative growth promoters must be found...
The animal feed additives market size, worth USD 16.11 billion in 2014, is expected to grow at a CAGR of 3.7 % over the period of 2015-2022. Rise in meat consumption of livestock such as poultry, cattle, and swine as a protein source is expected to boost the global industry trends over the coming years.
Animal feed additives such as minerals, vitamins, fatty acids, and amino acids enhance metabolism and weight gains of the livestock. Livestock production estimated at 305 million...
BASF and Balchem Corporation (NASDAQ:BCPC) received FDA approval to launch Amasil® formic acid in poultry diets in the United States.Amasil was recently introduced in the U.S. for swine, and has been successfully used in poultry diets around the world. It is considered the most potent organic acid for feed acidification.
By lowering the feed pH, Amasil creates a less favorable environment for bacteria, which reduces feed-borne pathogen populations and decreases microbial intake....
In modern poultry nutrition, traditional fibre sources are associated with some negative attributes such as energy dilution of the diet and mycotoxin contamination and are usually not included during linear formulation. However, fibre is also suggested to have a positive effect on the intestinal microflora and the intestinal health including for poultry. While some nutritionists believe that crude fibre is an integral part of the poultry diet, others argue that...
hullo every one.now a days I am facing a problem.i have a flock of 15000 layer.aging 34 wks.its feed intake is 120gms per bird per day.all the birds finish feed with in 15 to 20 minutes.my feed formulation is as under corn=455kgs=rice polishings=140kgs,feathermeal=40kgs,corn meal=50kgs,gluten60%=11kgs,gowar meal=30kgs,soya bean meal=45kgs,canula oil=07liters,fish meal with 44% protein=40kgs,canula meal=75kgs,limestone=82kgs,dcp=10kgs,gluten30%=07kgs, lysine hcl=1500gms,methionine...

The aim of the study was to determine the effect of dietary supplementation of organic acids on the performance, intestinal histomorphology, and blood biochemistry of broiler chicken. The birds in the control (T1) group were fed the basal diet whereas in other treatment groups basal diet was supplemented with 2% butyric acid (T2), 3% butyric acid (T4), 2% fumaric acid (T4), 3% fumaric acid (T5), 2% lactic acid (T6), and 3% lactic acid (T7). Broiler chicken...

Hello. Dear collegues , please help me with some information about Herbal methionine ( if you use this or you ever use this kind of product. I have in this moment in my storage 1000kg Methiomax from AlfaFacts ( contain andrographis paniculata 40%, ocimum sanctum 30% and azadirachta indica 30%) I took this product from curiosity. What do you know about this product : can be used for poultry and pigs as herbal methionine or not. Is allright to be used or can be...
This paper was published in "British Poultry Science Volume 46, Number 3 (June 2005), pp. 394–400" INTRODUCTION Aflatoxins are a major concern in poultry production because of serious economic losses. The toxicity of aflatoxins in broiler chickens has been widely investigated by determining their teratogenic, carcinogenic, mutagenic and growth inhibitory effects (Oguz and...
Introduction Antibiotics have been used for decades to improve poultry performance with low cost of implementation and ease adding to feed and water (Fernandez-Rubio et al., 2009). However, currently concern about possible antibiotic residues and resistance has arisen restrictions of antibiotics use in poultry (Jan et al., 2007; Saberfar et al., 2008). Because of this fact, industry and researchers have had to look for...
Spray-dried blood plasma is a highly digestible protein source containing immunoglobulins, growth factors, biologically active peptides, enzymes and other factors that are biologically active in the gut. Bovine SDP has been shown to produce improved growth rate, feed intake, feed efficiency and produce superior breast yield in broilers. Porcine SDP has been used in piglet starter diets to improve feed intake, growth rate and feed efficiency. There is limited...
In antibiotic-free broiler production systems, nutritionists can support the gut ecosystem with the judicious use of highly digestible diets for the young bird. Varying degrees of antibioticfree production (ABF) of chicken are now imposed by government agencies or major retailers or are being voluntarily undertaken by integrated broiler companies. ...
Use of dietary plasma in pre-starters for broilers may improve growth and health. Early nutrition of the broiler chicken is becoming more important as more knowledge is gained about the positive correlation between early growth rate and market weight and also the impact early growth and development have on the uniformity of carcass weight and composition. All of these factors become...
