Just a suggestion: India is a soybean producing country, and to the best of my knowledge an exporting country of soybean meal. Perhaps the Indian poultry industry should consider the ECONOMICS of producing full-fat soybeans (FFSB) for auto consumption provided it is optimally processed. Because of its oil content (18-20% in average) and consequently its high metabolizable energy content ( ? 3500 Kcal/kg) it is in many countries worldwide a very competitive ingredient versus soybean meal. There are plenty of available technologies to generate FFSB of optimum quality. Nelson Ruiz Nutrition, LLC, Suwanee, GA USA
Volatility of raw material pricing is one of key challenges in Indian Poultry Industry. Optimising feed cost with alternative raw materials without compromising performance is critical task.
Hi Everyone! I am a former of Premium Chicken in Chittor District, Andhra Pradesh. I am trying to get in touch with senior staff to escalate the issues and problems we are facing locally. However, I am unable to reach out to them. Can someone please suggest an official email address or contact number that I can use to communicate with them?
1. The growth of the country’s poultry sector is not going to be without challenges.
2. Volatility in feed prices cannot be wished away.
3. Rising feed costs can potentially raise the overall production costs in a price-sensitive market.
4. Using commodity derivatives and non conventional feed ingredients to hedge feed price risk is another option.?
Other challenges to the poultry industry:
5. Poultry immunity, health, and production are several factors that challenge the future growth of the poultry industry.??
6. Non-infectious agents that affect poultry health include weather conditions, hygienic status, house structure and density, water and feed hygiene, and poultry farmer’s knowledge and qualifications .??
7. Consumer confidence, product quality and safety & acceptance of processed chicken and value added products .??
8. emergence and re-emergence of diseases will continue to be major challenges to the current situation and the strategic future of the industry.??
9. Food safety norms in poultry are critical to ensure robust and consistent demand growth .
Real challenges faced by Indian poultry Industry are well described by Dr. Girish Kolwankar. Conventional feed ingredients crises and increasing cost of production ultimately shrinking the profit of farmers. More Work should emphasize on use of alternative feed ingredients without compromising the performance.
Reality check is an exercise of promising entrepreneurs like Dr. Girish Kolwankar from India. His assumptions and responses make him very vibrant industry person.
the price fluctuations of conventional raw materials especially soya and maize is creating a tough scenario for poultry feed industry, which is aptly described by Dr. G Kolwankar Sir.
A more holistic approach by all major stock holder is need of the time
Brother same condition in Pakistan after 10 day feed company delivered very low quality feed
Last month 700 Rupees increased par begs
Briler feed begs 6500 Rs and layer 5885
Now farmer did not replace your flock
Indian poultry sector faced lot of challenges during preceding couple of years. Raw material cost have inflated northward sharply. Soybean meal which never went above ? 45/- galloped to almost above ? 90/- last year. Similar is the situation with maize. Indian layer industry is almost on alternate raw material. Mostly surviving on broken rice as energy source . Conflict between farmers & companies have been major challenge for contract broiler farming. Efficiency in production ,purchase sale & controlling theft, leakages are key to survive in Indian poultry industry. Nice insight Dr Kolwankar.
