Izhar Ali this is a very good question but not one that is easily answered I'm afraid. Mixing order is affected by four things, in my opinion - ingredients used, ingredient form, mixing and processing equipment and operator ability.Ingredients, particularly forages are variable, particularly when it comes to particle size or chop. This also varies depending on the intended outcome or average parti ...

Dhanraj Hello! Thanks for your question. I am not certain of specific fruits that are useful in improving body weight and milk production. However, there are a number of plant extracts/phytobiotics/essential oil products that are considered more natural that have research showing effects on rumen function that support both growth and milk as well as animal health. In this context, these products a ...

Hello Mariano Fernandez Miyakawa. Perhaps the word "Everything" was a bit of an exaggeration but based on ongoing reviews of the literature I as well as many others, believe that a significant amount of the problem human medicine has incurred is due to the over-prescription and mismanagement of antibiotics by human Drs and patients as well as other factors. The article was written as per applications in ruminant production systems. I know, by experience, that producers have "overfed" antibiotics for years. Not from the standpoint of feeding higher levels that legally allowed but in situations where it may not have been necessary. I.e. feeding it as a form of insurance. Oswaldo Rosendo - my apologies for the delay getting back to you. I overlooked this post initially.Very good questions and I can only tell you that there is no set answer for your questions. Consultants here in the US may visit a given farm once per week to once per month or possibly less (once per quarter) depending on the needs and wants of the farm. This has to be worked out between the dairy a ...

Dear Dr. Rahul S. Verma: Copper deficiency causing depigmentation of the hair coat most commonly is noted at the top of the shoulders, around the edges of the ears and around the muzzle in cattle with a darker hair coat. Lighter colored cattle may be noted by a drabness to the coat and general poor overall appearance. I believe, based on the description that an actual hair loss may be more related ...

Dr. Rahul S. Verma No doubt there could be a number of causes. Evaluating the mineral program is an important first step and determining if the mineral mixture does, in fact meet the animal's requirements. I would closely look at Zinc, Selenium and possibly VItamins A and E. Kind Regards, Steve
