Sure, Vitamins and minerals are very important to poultry metabolism and good contribution is required to enhance knowledge in this area. However, this is basic information regarding vitamins and minerals for backyard birds, at commercial scale more information is needed such as the requirements under different production system, environmental condition and type of production.
Though all vitamins and minerals are very essential for health of bird, but in case of defficiency, how much amount can be given. Its supplementation can improve the defficiency in bird to normal or it helps the other birds to become defficient.
This is an excellent presentation. However, for effective utilisation of the vitamin, choline chloride should be packed seperately from vitamin, especially in vitamin-mineral premix.

These are only basics which every nutritionist and feed formulator suppose to know.
More and more thrust to be given for specifying their levels for commercial broilers, layers and breeders to get optimum results in terms of: Feed Intake, wt gain, FCR in Broilers, HHA and HDA in commercial layers, hatchability % and no. of chicks in breeders.
A thumb ready reference list of symptoms of vitamin deficiency. Role of vitamin C is well established in poultry but author has only considered the conventional aspect where as deficiency due to minerals like Selenium, Sodium, Potasium, Chloride is also not listed.
It would have been better if solution for Vitamin & Minerals deficiency would have been discussed for different type of production under different environment condition.

I don't know if you will be able to help.
I am looking for a company that will mix my own custom Mineral vitamin formula mixes for birds.
Do you have any recommendations?
Thanks for any information.
Thanks,
Mark
The role of vitamins and minerals dicussed in this article is quite brief, yet providing a complete understanding of these trace elements used in the feeding of poultry. However there was need for the pictures of birds showing the symptoms of defficiencies.
Over all this is a good informative article.

I appreciate the brief presentation on the role of vitamins and minerals in poultry rations; however much more details are pending. Poultry will feed to meet their physiological demand so the ammounts of these nutrients, production stage of the birds, type of birds broilers or layers needed to be mentioned. For the free range, the natural sources of these nutrients that can easily be availed to the birds needed to be heightened. Excess consumption of some may lead to poisoning with symptoms manifesting as a deficiency, so a clear limit should be addressed.
Thank you.
This is the basic information regarding the vitamins and minerals. We would be grateful for the information about the actual dose of vitamins and minerals for birds to recover these deficiencies.
Good reference for the new enterer. Requirement for Commercial layer, Broiler, breeders at different stage vary. It will be nice if details are provided.
It's really good stuff on vitamins and minerals in consolidated form. Thanks a lot to the author. And requesting him to attach me with a GMP company in Asia, preferably Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore, Japan or S. Korea who can manufacture me some customized vitamin and vitamin combination products in liquid form for marketing and distribution in Bangladesh market.
Vitamins and minerals make people's bodies work properly. Vitamins and minerals boost the immune system, support normal growth and development, and help cells and organs do their jobs.
Dear Ahmad,
You can check he values that the different feeding systems recommend, such as the NRC (the American one).
