Quality broiler feed covers all the attributes of feed in relation to growth and feed conversion ratio.Antibiotic is just for prevention of occurrences of disease on farm animal.To get a good performance of broiler birds feed must be of high quality and must be given at the right time. Then the environment should also be taken care of. I personally has raise broiler and could get 2.6 live weight at 56 days with less abdominal fat. Growth promoters and antibiotics play less role if there is quality feed in place. Thanks
The FCR for broilers is determined by a number of factors; temperature, strain of bird, feed quality, feed formulation age of bird at time of marketing, diseases(pathogenic, metabolic), mycotoxins in feed, water quality, management, litter quality etc. The easiest way to get an idea on feed conversions from around the is to look at the management guides put out by the suppliers of poultry. I have seen conditions as low as 1.70:1 with averages around 1.96:1 and higher. Unfortunately these FCR are not always attainable by the average poultry producer. Under tropical conditions FCR of 2:1 is achievable with the above conditions being met and 2.2 to 2.5:1 under average management conditions. I have purposely not mentioned antibiotics or growth promoters as these products only work if management conditions are met.
FCR of 1.4-1.6 could be obtained with sound management practices at the poultry farm. However, the major problem facing the poultry producers in Kuwait is high feed cost since corn and soybean meal cannot be produced in locally hence the poultry producers depend on importation of these major feed ingredients from other countries.
In india performance is said to be very good. But it is appreciated when a flock get 2.25kg bwt with 1.7-175 fcr within 40-42days. Well if some one get better it is excellent but we cannot say we get 2.6 kg bwt with fcr of 1.6 at 42 -46day is open house rearing system as a normal phenomena. It is also important to have a range of good performance and sell the broiler at good price.
Good market price is important now a days for broiler live market or dressed market. If good price available and feed conversion is good then it is additional benefit to producers.
Even with very good fcr at 40days of age the producer suffer seriously with great loss to his operation and many such farmers feel risky to floor next batch of chicks. So producers need to ensure the local farm gate price and it is desirable to organize direct retailing which protect the farm at all places.

@Muhammed Ilyas are your farmers still feeding the broiler ration without direct inclusion of additional fat, as my last visit to Lahore and subsequent meetings with some of my Pakistani friends in Asian feed conferences we found that Pakistan Feed Milers do not use additional direct fat in their formulations.if true then yours is a remarkable success story worth narrating to all others.
I would appreciate that every body is thinking about FCR. Being an extension personnel and agri. economist it is the farmers that should get a better price of his/her product, especially broiler meat producers.

the feed is costly and never say about FCR standards.

If feed industry supply better feed with enough feed additives and premix, no need of supply of antibiotics and supplements. The cost related with broiler production could be reduced.

This way farmers are not getting farm gate price at reasonable and consumers are paying higher price. Though the associations regarding poultry is aware of this but hatchery associations are charging lots on the farmers.There must be a practice to buy or sale based on cost of production with some reasonable profit.

We dont have control over market and seles of birds,
the only way to control the production cost is by good farm managment which is very less seen in india.. we are facing farmer training ,education and their acceptibility problem

to get better results always depends on your efforts, so If any one want to improve their FCR utilizing the same feed, then he must take take steps towards better management of broiler house, in which Temperature & ventilation plays a vital role, once u understand the cycle of these two management will be easier for beter results.
It is always better to use acidifiers during the latter part of the production cycle, as long term use of acifiers could negatively effect on the watering system because benefits of using acidifiers may out weigh the cost involved in repairing the damage caused by long term use of acidifiers with drinking water. Use of acidifiers during latter part could also improve microbiological quality of carcasses as well.

In Romania the FCR are between 1.55-1.7 ( dependending of what kind of cereals you use, corn or wheat and if you use enzymes or not) at 37 or 38 days . The average bodyweight at 35 days are 2.05-2.1 kg and at 38 days are 2.2-2.4 kg.
Can you tell me if in your contry you use expanders in feedmills?

It is interesting to see the FCR that individuals are getting with their broilers, but no one is mentioning what strain of bird they are using. This would be most interesting as FCR also has to do with strain of bird.
In Romania we have 80% Ross 308and 20 % Cobb 500. I did not see big difference of fcr between this two stranins , although cobb 500 have a slightly comsumption

General Achievement weight 1.8 kg with FCR of 1.55 for the open house and closed house from 2 to 2.2 kg with FCR 1.65. harvest time 35 days. FCR best I think because it takes a very relative depending on farm management practices and management of your vaccination, this includes; proper cleaning and disinfection, DOC quality, feed quality, production processes meet kriterial how good feed in the feed mill, the input density, water quality, temperature and ventilation plays an important role, how well the cage is, weight gain and feed intake per day .
FCR also depends on what kind of raw materials and nutritional value, in Indonesia still depends on raw materials imported from outside, so rich in energy and protein with a balanced amino acid helps to better results and FCR.
