Biography
Paul is a Raymond Barry Distinguished Professor at the Animal Welfare Science Centre, Faculty of Veterinary and Agricultural Sciences, University of Melbourne. He has studied animal behaviour and welfare, particularly that of farm animals and more recently zoo animals. Recognition of scientific contribution has included the Animal Welfare Research Award by the British RSPCA (1996), David Wood-Gush Memorial Lecture, International Society for Applied Ethology (1999), Order of Australia (AM) for significant services to agricultural science and to animal welfare (2019) and the Universities Federation for Animal Welfare (UFAW) Medal for outstanding contributions to animal welfare science (2019).

Rachel A. Ankeny is Professor of History & Philosophy, and Deputy Dean Research in the Faculty of Arts at the University of Adelaide. She is an interdisciplinary teacher and scholar whose areas of expertise cross three fields: history/philosophy of science, bioethics and science policy, and food studies. She has particular interests in animal welfare and community values, including understandings of the science and ethics associated with red meat and egg production.

Dr. Walsh has held Innovation scientist positions developing feed additive solutions for swine for the past 8 years. Having joined DSM in May 2018, Maria is now Global Innovation Lead for swine for DSM Animal Nutrition & Health and is focused on improving the efficiency and sustainability of swine production through improvements in nutrition and health.

Biography
Dr. Abraham is an Associate Professor at Murdoch University with a research interest in Antimicrobial Resistance and drug discovery. He completed his PhD from The University of Wollongong and NSW DPI (2012) on antimicrobial resistance and adaption characteristics of porcine E. coli. Following his PhD, he undertook a post-doctoral position on antimicrobial resistance and drug discovery with Prof. Darren Trott at The University of Adelaide for 2 years. In 2015 he commenced an academic position as Lecturer in Veterinary and Medical Infectious Diseases at Murdoch University.

Biography
David Marks has been in the poultry industry for all of his profession life after graduating as a BVSc 40 odd years ago.
He often describes himself as a veterinarian by profession, a poultry veterinarian by accident, and a field veterinarian by choice.
He has worked in the poultry industry for all his professional career, starting off as an employed veterinarian with Australian and New Zealand, and then starting his own consulting business over 15 years ago.
Most of his work is in East and South East Asia and the Pacific and involves technical consulting and project work to integrators, feed companies, supply companies and funding agencies.
Antibiotic stewardship is a key theme.

Dr. Alison Leary graduated from the University of New England in Australia with a Bachelor of Science (Honours) in the area of animal physiology and nutrition and continued to complete a PhD on “Factors affecting egg and egg shell quality in various strains of the laying hen”. She also achieved her Masters in Business Administration in 2004 and has 20 years’ experience in the animal feed industry, with 12 of those years spent travelling and living in Asia. Throughout much of her career Dr. Leary has worked within the poultry industry and more recently in the pig and dairy industries.

At KU Leuven (Belgium), he took up a doctoral project on neurodevelopment in the Laboratory of Developmental Genetics. After obtaining his Ph.D. in Biomedical Sciences in 2010, he joined Nutriad to work as an R&D Engineer. He became Business Development Manager of Digestive Performance, a product range dedicated to gut health and animal performance in production animals. Since 2019, he is Global Scientific & Technical Manager at Adisseo, for the Health by Nutrition portfolio.
