Fat deposition in broiler chickens offered reduced-crude protein diets

Peter Selle was awarded his PhD in 2001 many years after graduating as a veterinarian. Peter joined the Poultry Research Foundation within the University of Sydney the following year and was subsequently appointed Adjunct Associate Professor. Since 1999, Peter has published over 100 papers in peer-reviewed journals, several book chapters and has been made numerous presentations at international and local conferences. Peter’s interests include dietary phytate and exogenous phytase, sorghum as a feed grain for chicken-meat production, whole grain feeding, starch and protein digestive dynamics and reduced-crude protein diets for broiler chickens. Sustainable chicken-meat production is the ultimate purpose.

Matt Bekker is the Technical Manager for Novus International in the Oceania region. Matt holds a Master’s Degree in Agriculture from the University of New England majoring in nutrition and physiology and is a registered animal scientist with the American Society of Animal Scientists. He has extensive experience in the poultry, swine, beef and dairy industries working in both practical and research capacities. Matt has published work on breast meat health in broiler chickens, feed digestibility and gut health in the presence of protease and the role of copper for broiler intestinal integrity and performance.

In January 2013, he started working as manager animal physiology research in Animal Nutrition Research Department in Evonik Nutrition & Care GmbH. In June 2016, he was promoted to senior manager nutritional physiology research and in 1st July 2017, he was promoted to Head of Animal Nutrition Research Department in Evonik Nutrition & Care GmbH. Starting 1st September 2018, Dr. Behnam Saremi moved to CJ Europe GmbH (Part of CJ CheilJedang BIO) where his main responsibility is “Director of Technical Center”.

In this role Jason is responsible for leading research to develop technical documentation, strengthen the OceanFeed brand and support OHT’s sales and distribution teams by providing technical guidance for the OceanFeed range of products. Prior to Joining OHT, Jason worked various research and technical roles with public, academic and private companies. Jason holds a Bachelor and Master of science degrees in Animal Science from Tuskegee University and The University of Tennessee, respectively, and a PhD in Animal Nutrition from Purdue University.
