Feed is one of the most important component which accounts for 60 to 70% of the total cost of pig production. In commercial piglet diets, allowing only protein feedstuffs to meet the dietary lysine needs of the animal would increase levels of other essential and non-essential amino acids (AA) beyond requirement. This would eventually result in diets with higher crude protein (CP) content. The majo ...

CONCLUSIONS Supplementation of 0.12 % CreAMINO® in finisher pigs diet 60 days before slaughter improved weight gain, FCR, lean meat yield by 4.30 %, 4.19 % and 2.20 %, respectively, compared with the control pigs. Pigs fed 0.12 % CreAMINO® 60 days before slaughter had significantly reduced back-fat thickness in carcass compared to control pigs. INTRODUCTION CreAMINO® is a suppl ...

Methionine (Met) is the third limiting amino acid (AA) in typical swine diets. Besides protein synthesis as the main role, Met plays an important role as a methyl donor for cellular metabolism and formation of co-enzyme S-adenosylmethionine (Bunchasak, 2009), and involved in immune function and a precursor for the synthesis of glutathione and taurine in animals (Li et al., 2007). The dietary requi ...

Formulating diets using SID values is a good approach to count how much of each AA could be potentially used by the pig. However, having separately SID values for weaned and grower pigs, is a step closer to accuracy.
