Forum: Formulating Feed for Broiler Performance

Every year the marketing age of broilers decreases by an average of 0.75 days for the same performance. This trend is likely to continue in the same direction for the coming years. Nutrition plays a vital role in enabling this improvement. As the feed cost represents an expensive input (~70-80% of broiler production cost), the poultry producer should be aware of the dynamics of the feed in its inf...

there is an old example about poultry eating is called poultry eat for calories and poultry is grain eater so in modern rearing and introduce for poultry pellets feed which called afast food having high level of energy so it leads to high body weight gain in broiler of about 2 kg meat of eating 3.250 kg feed at about 32 days but we notice that the immunesystem of this birds will be not good and can easily affected by viruses at any time
and round heart disease so every thing in new technology for rapid weight have more disadvantages in poultry immunity
thank you

Hello Abdelaziz Abdelfatah Abdelmotii Ebrahim
I do not know why you tell this words.
The broiler performances and objectives (ross , aviagen) can be easily aquired.
If you have good condition and biosecurity and vaccination is not complicated.
But you must understand this : biosecurity ,good genetics , good feed and good house is much more important than antibiotics and probiotics and everything else.

sure you are right 100% but you have to put in consideration plus all the parameter you mention "bio security, genetics, good food and good house the importance of good management the the suitable vaccination program me, the suitable medication programme . to get good and will performed broiler .

pls, you need to include the periodic vaccination of broilers and layers with the specific vaccines

This is a good article. Please, how does one calculate the ME, CP, CF and other nutritional parameters in poultry feed formulation?

Simple. We take me, cp,cf and all other nutrients from raw materials, after this we compensate with enzimes, we mix them and after this we use the average. This is the simple side of the story. The complicate one is this. For a good result you must have a correct database of raw materials. And you must make a lot of analisys of raw material.:))

21% for finisher is too much

Better to avoid G M crops and food from solvent extraction units to maintain good health of Bird and consumer.

Dear Mr R Ayyangar
I am total agree with your opinion , in fact I want to complete your opinion with free fatty acids who are worst of this list .
However , I read some studies who say about gmo are not dangerous and I read some studies who say the gmo are dangerous . Can you post some information about this?
And about food from solvent extracted units , can you tell us more - I think you have an advised opinion because you are in this business ?
Thank you

Excusame ask about the relationship between the free fatty ácid in the grease or oil to be added to the feed and the metabolizable energy available to the Chichén?

The incubation and neonatal periods account for about 50% of the productive life of a 2-kg market broiler. The perinatal period, the last 4 days before hatch through the first 4 d after hatch, is most critical for development and survival of commercial broilers, Peter Ferket (North Carolina State University) and Zehave Uni (Hebrew University of Jerusalem, Israel) stated at the Alltech Symposium in Lexington, Kentucky.

It is also the period during which nutritional conditioning and perinatal programming can occur. The perinatal chick makes the metabolic and physiological transition from nutrition supplied in the egg to feed, and it is functionally ‘programmed’ to adopt its environment.

A chick’s first meal occurs when they consume the amnion fluid before internal piping. Due to restricted feeding of parent stock and egg production rate and other stress related issues the nutrients in the amnion fluid may be lacking critical nutrients.

Various factors play important roles in birds in influencing hatchability efficiency and growth performance during embryonic and post-hatch life, such as genetic make-up, egg characteristics and incubation environment (Narushin & Romanov, 2002; Petek et al., 2003; Abiola et al., 2008). Hatching drastically changes the way chicks retrieve nutrients. In the embryo, yolk lipids are transported directly into the blood by endocytosis (dos Santos et al., 2010), but after hatching, the yolk content is absorbed through both the yolk sac membrane and the Meckel's diverticulum, and is digested and absorbed from the intestinal tract. At hatch the energy reserves in the yolk sac may not be sufficient to supply in the maintenance energy requirements of a chick (Dibner et al., 1998), and fasting effects may develop before the bird is removed from the hatchery. However, despite being capable of ingesting feed, the intestinal tract of the chick is still immature (Uni et al., 2003).

Dr.Gunasekar;- An excellent piece of article to embrace with. It would be better to depict your trial report with exact formulation of feed. Nevertheless the more you add sugar the more it would be sweeter. You should also consider the costing parameter to any commercially manufactured feed which should ensure the rapid growth within less offerings and that too at low cost. A broiler chick prior grooming up costs Rs 50/- and finally the market price goes to be Rs 120/-per Kg during sale. After inducting a good feed @Rs30/-per Kg.and more no room is virtually left to generate any cushion to entice farmers to go in for poultry farming as his lively hood. Of course the cost behind medication and other summer protection device would add fuel further.Hence your attempt should also focus on all parameters like feeding, nutrition and ambiance of the farm to ensure minimum load of ammonia. We therefore welcome your suggestion in comprehensive manner in near future to entail benefit to the farmers.

Hi
Good work you have here. I truly want to know the formula for production of broiler starter and finisher feeds that will help achieve 3kg-3.2kg in 6weeks, evenly.
What has soya Bean to contribute in finisher feeds.
How do I know the lysine content of a feed formulation

Hello
Okoro Stephen Chukwudi
Is not enough to think only to feed
You have to think to : Tipe of breeder , house quality , density , medication programs ( vaccination ) , biosecutiry , temperature , all of this .
Feed is just a piece in a chain
If you want to achive maximum performances start to read the technical guide of the hybrid .
