The majority of pig and poultry diets are composed of about 70% maize or wheat, 20% soybean meal or other similar protein sources, and 10% micro-ingredients. Although this is a simplification, it illustrates the point that the majority of pork, poultry, and eggs are produced using a limited range of ingredients. In addition, it is important to note that feed cost is about 60-70% of overall producti ...

Amin Nthanga this is very important to be considered in broiler nutrients, especially at starter phase of feeding.

Niyi Balogun Agreed, The inclusion rates of the full fat soya you suggest could be somewhat problematic in pelleted feeds particularly in cases where desirable pellet durability index is 90% or higher. Similarly, such high amounts would not be ideal in starter rations for broilers as the chick GIT is not fully developed to deal with the imbedded oil in the full fat soya. When using full fat soya, ...

Dear Rami Unfortunately still many of the nutrients in feed specification for poultry is crude, like CP , CF , EE and of course Ca. Ca is usually over supplied to the poultry diet from many sources like: Drinking water (as a rule of thumb poultry take water twice the feed intake) , Carrier in premix , concentrate , pro-prebiotics also as anti-caking agent in SBM. For example when you add 1 kg ...

Dear Torence Sidhuna I would consider 180~220 mEq/kg in the case of layers in production phase and 220~250 mEq/kg for broilers, specially to maintain a good litter quality. Follow the recommended levels of sodium, potassium and chloride for the the breed you are using. Special attention should be given to chloride levels and you can use sodium bicarbonate or potassium carbonate to help in the bal ...

Dear Torence Sidhuna, I would definitely recommend using Ecobiol due to its benefits in intestinal health. There are reports of layer producers in Brazil with the same problem that you have now and they saw an improvement in litter quality with the use of Ecobiol. You can check the December news in the Feed & food magazine, which can also be found in English in our linkedin page: https://www.linke ...

The biggest challenges facing the poultry industry today include disease prevention, particularly in the absence of antibiotics, and optimum nutrition, especially with regards to being able to incorporate novel/local ingredients into the diet. Interestingly these two are linked as much of the disease pressure that challenges current poultry production is enteric in its nature. Since the presence o ...

We always feed ad libitum the entire period to support maximum growth, which minimizes the growing period and thus reduces overall maintenance allocation for best FCR.

Very good discussion. As many of us realize that it is the common misunderstanding of enzymes mode of action in general and the fact that they "Share" a common pool of nutrients, mainly energy and AA. This remains to be a subject that is not clear for the end user who struggles most of the times with the matrices provided by enzymes producers and the fact that some of them ignore such facts in pur ...
