1. IntroductionThere is considerable interest in the successful development of low protein diets for broiler chickens, which axiomatically contain high inclusions of supplemental amino acids. This is because low protein diets have the potential to generate economic, environmental and bird welfare advantages.Formulation of low protein diets are usually achieved by decreasing soybean meal inclusions ...

Butyric acid is a good antimicrobial, only in those areas of the GI tract having a sufficiently low pH that creates the free non-dissociated form. Only this form can now pass through the cell wall to subsequently dissociate to lower microbe internal pH that creates lethality with all cells unable to accommodate. Such microbe lethality largely depends on concentration and occurs during passage of l ...

@Nisar Muhammad Khan Indeed, you are right, the more dietary protein is reduced the more non-essential amino acids become essential. While in the commercial examples shown in the article the NEAA levels are not a problematic issue per se, we clearly recommend to consider Gly-equivalents as those can become limiting. Recommendations can be found in AMINOChick.Indeed, research has shown, that Gly bu ...

@Nuhad Daghir Under experimental conditions you can even reduce more. However, the potential of CP reduction depends on the status quo. A good indication for protein reduction would be the nitrogen utilization which can easily be calculated by assuming 30 g N/kg BW. Indeed, nitrogen utilization is also a matter of age or final body weight but the article gives you an indication on German condition ...

Dear All,formulating in Bestmix, I also considered the total Ca and dig./av. P for the added phytase; and energy (ME) and AA for the NSP enzymes only. On this way I estimated to be on the safe side, because the nutrient matrix values indicate the amount of nutrient that could be released when the enzyme is added. In the past 10 years it became a trend to request and offer “matrix values&rdquo ...

Well said Aaron. We should not be far from formulating diets based on digestible Ca and P,.....and probably digestible energy later on.
