Abstract
Our laboratory has worked toward the identification of probiotic candidates for poultry which can actually displace enteric pathogens in the gastrointestinal tract, indicating that selection of therapeutically efficacious probiotic cultures with marked performance benefits in poultry is possible. We have also developed direct-fed microbials (DFM) for commercial poultry diets. In this chapter, we summarize the safety and efficacy of individual probiotics for their prophylactic and/or therapeutic activity against Salmonella infections under both laboratory and field conditions as well as the development of DFMs with potential for their widespread utilization to improve production, and clinical efficacy for animal use.
Key words: Probiotic, Direct-fed microbials, Salmonella, poultry, therapeutic.

Excellent article, it's really fantastic experimental scientific insights you have shared to this community particularly reduction of SALMONELLA infections, you have conducted an experiment on in ovo injection of probiotics along with Marek's vaccine is really a great initiative,
You also gave informative insights on the growth of villi, reduction of viscosity when using alternative ingredients in broiler diets, etc,
Very good article, thanks a lot.
