This is good article creating awareness about presence of mycotoxins in wheat which is a major staple food for human beings and it is also fed as a part of animal feed. However this is main concern of those countries where humidity level is very high at the time of harvest and crop lodging at ripening stage is normally seen.
To avoid the growth of moulds in wheat grain following critical points must be observed:
1. Try to avoid crop lodging through agrononmic practices at ripening stage
2. Always harvest wheat crop moisture level not more than 12%
3. Storage should be proper and there should be capacity to check mycotoxin development if it is identified once storage is complete.
If crop is harvested at minimum moisture level and all norms of proper storage are observed there are very minute chances of mycotoxin growth.

This is ainteresting article.We have been using toxin binders, adsorbants,antifungal agents. We have been using biotransformation fungal metabolites and find very good results. Notox a feed supplement of Vesper Pharmaceuticals administered @ 150gm to 250gm per ton of feed was able prevent the ill effects of mycotoxins. Another product of same company TOXOL liquid was succesful in treating the damage caused by mycotoxins. This product when used @ 10-15ml per 100 birds week a month programme in layer flocks not only prevented the ill effects but also improved the egg production even after 72 weeks age. This information I would like to share .
