Mineral Balances on Dairy Farms - Effect of Trace Minerals on the Environment
Published:June 27, 2011
Summary
INTRODUCTION In the past 30 yr, one of the strategies to supply dietary minerals for dairy animals was to cover a high proportion (50 % or more) of dairy animal requirements with a mineral mix composition with minimal or, in some cases, no consideration of mineral content in the other dietary ingredients, i.e. forages, grains, and byproducts. In some cases, data&n...
Dr Castillo. A very good article about Mineral Balances on Dairy Farms. Where do you see the future in mineral supplementation in the form of bioplexed or organic minerals? These could be fed at lower doses due to higher bioavailability to the animals and thereby reduce excretion.
Balance ration is prime requirement of modern dairy farm and their excretion in manure have a major impact on green house gasses emission.it has also impact on the crop when the manure is used in the field. This article is technically sound and having well knowledge about the crops which furnished the minerals to the dairy animals and their excretion in the manure. Balance ration lower the green house gasses emission.
In order to increase the absorption of the minerals and reduce their excretion, organic minerals of low molecular size, such as methionates or glycinates, must be used.
