HPAI is a worldwide problem. Is there any possibility to replace (substitue/shift) HPAI viruses (for example H5 or H7 subtypes) with a LPAI virus in migrated wild birds or in HPAIV reserovoirs?. Do you thing the virus is stronger than us that shifts easily from LPAIV to HPAIV subtypes? When we (poultry veterinarian) are going to find solution to AI in wildlife birds?

Alireza Talebi Absolutely! This is precisely one of the objectives we have. Dr. Inkar Castellanos has been hired as a postdoc in our laboratory and he will develop several subunit vaccines to test them in what you are mentioned. While our laboratory does not have the capacity to do challenge trials, we are collaborating with Dr. Daniel Perez in GA where trials will be conducted next year hopefully.

Dr. Guillermo Tellez-Isaias Thank you for your answer. I have no idea what is your research plan, but I am sure for practical success, your team must have experienced poultry veterinarian specialist in poultry health and diseases to understand how to deal with AIV in wildlife and poultry industry.
