Dear Sir,
Your data about Alphitobius diaperinus is really interesting. This is the common problem for commercial broiler producers.
If you have any idea about depopulation of these insects (In both condition , present and absence of birds) please suggest me.

Thanks

Dear colleague

Good article about Spatial distribution and population fluctuation of the darkling beetle Alphitobius diaperinus. The fight against this insect is very difficult. When the building is empty, can use various insecticides sold on the market. However, when the building contains animals, it is impossible to fight against this insect, because it hides everywhere and insecticides are dangerous for chickens. Can reduce the insect population by adding lime in the litter.
The best way to control these insects, it is the crawl

Alphitobius diaperinus is a minor pest of stored wheat, rice and even mustard. I have been in touch with this insect since a long time and have carefully watched their behavior and life cycle. They are very abundant in rainy season when temperature remains about 28-30oC with about 85-90% RH. It is quite difficult to collect their eggs because they oviposit in the lower stratum of the culture pots amongst the powered grains. Their larvae are voracious feeder and mostly they moult 5-6 times undergoing 6-7 instars. Their pupae are naked, off white in color and moult to adult in 6-7 days. Their number remains at minimum level during the winter and maximum in rainy season. However it is very difficult to control these pest. Dr. Aminul Islam M.Sc. Ph. D. PDF (USA)
