Interesting article about ayucal liquid in improving overall performance and tibial mineralisation in broilers. Why do you call it a herbal product?
Good article about ayucal liquid in improving overall performance and tibial mineralisation in broilers. why Ayucal is needed if proper formulation techniques adopted ? Is there any extra benefit? Why are not conscious of inorganic ca++ and Po4 and enzymes?
Dear Dr. Puneet and Dr. Ram Prasad! Greetings!
Ayucal D contains Achyrancthes / Cissus quandragularis / Lepidum and some more herbal extracts which take care of proper utilisation of Ca++ and Phosphorus supplemented. These herbal extracts are particularly important for improving the retention of calcium in blood which may be utilised for proper bone and egg shell formation.
When proper formulation technique is adapted the probability of utilization of supplementated mineral into right usage is variable. Added herbs ensures maximum retention in of supplement in body and hence increases the proper uptake of these minerals for right usage.
Dear Dr. Praful,
I fully agree with your point. To make it even stronger, you should do a comparative study of 2 products that you should make with and without these herbs, and compare their results as above. Then only you can assess the efficacy of these herbs, if any. Already, any balanced feed has adequate amount of Ca and P including Vit. D3 which is probably the only known compound that facilitates Ca/ P abs. You cannot optimize a properly balanced/ standardized feed further with such products, particularly FCR.
Also, it needs to be assessed how much available Ca and P present in the 5ml- 10ml would be really assisting in meeting the Ca/ P needs of 100 birds (as already said by Dr. Poudyal above). This can be experimentally checked by removing all Ca, P and Vitamin D3 from the feed, and keeping the birds only on Ayucal- D during the entire cycle.
