I have been working on alternative control strategies of this mite. I would like to talk about this.
Thank you.

Fortunately, I have not seen a lot of such cases in the poultry farms. But we remain vigilant in our visits to suspected sites. It is indeed a serious problem.
I had a out of control issue with them last year for several months. After we tried several products on the birds we finally had to try a canine flea and tick product called Frontline ( not the plus ). And the birds were cured within 3 days.
I also used white distilled vinegar in a spray bottle and heavily covered the entire housing. After it dried ,I used a shopvac with an attachment that has stiff bristles to scrub cracks and crevices. Our birds are free ranged, the grounds were not treated. And I only treated the housing once.We now treat the birds with the Frontline once a month and the issue has not reoccurred.
we have tried retail poultry sprays, ficam w, creocote, lime wash and DE powder. poultry sprays - limited effectiveness, ficam W kills and prevents infestation, creocote kills and prevents for short period, lime wash prevents reasonably well and DE powder prevents very well.
Nanocraft in Germany had a solution for red mite that appeared to work, but needed a number of field trials to test real world applications. Anyone who wishes to collaborate might still be able to do so.
