Ascites in broiler

Beneficial effects of CoQ10 supplementation have been demonstrated in human patients with cardiovascular disease , hypertension , and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. #Ascites, one of most common metabolic diseases in broilers, causes great financial losses ($1 billion p.a)to poultry farmers around the world. Etiology of ascites in chickens surrounds 3 aspects: (1) Pulmonary hypertension, (2) Miscellaneous cardiac pathologies, and (3) Cellular damage caused by reactive oxygen species. Of these, pulmonary hypertension is the most common cause of ascites >increased load of right ventricle > heart failure, liver congestion, and development of ascites. Coenzyme Q10, a naturally occurring lipophilic antioxidant, present in the mitochondria of all body cells, it is involved in the mitochondrial adenosine triphosphate (ATP) production - bioenergetics. Repeatedly many studies suggest that broiler chicken when supplemented with coenzyme Q10 reduced the ascites incidence in broilers. Coenzyme Q10 along with some other antioxidants as a product is a strong candidate to alleviate ascitis problem in broiler industry worldwide. I have personally observed the beneficial effects of coenzyme q10 in feild condition. Kindly share your experiences on the same.
