There are two schools of thoughts for treating a flock affected by viral diseases like IB, AI, ND & IBD. Some say we should immediately use antibiotic to counter any secondary bacterial infection in the process. Salah Mohammed Example: First blood sample is taken on 1-March from a Layer flock House-1/Pen-3 for routine seromonitoring or at suspecting some problem (such as egg drop). Second sample is taken 2-3 weeks apart from the same House/pen. This is paired blood sample.

salehi kahrizsangiBirds under three weeks of age don’t exhibit proper lesions of IBD due to under developed lymphatic & immune system. And no haemorrhaging lesions as complement system is not fully developed.

are you sure its IBD but not CAV? clinical signs of IBD would not be detectable under 21 days. also according to my experience using antibiotics during IBD will absoultly increse the mortality.

After viral infections like IB,IBD,ND & AI bird’s susceptibility to bacterial infection like E.coli is increased . This looks like colisepticemia (Systemic Ecoli infection) after some viral exposure . Treat it with antibiotics .

In some cases if we wait for viral infection to subside before initiating antibiotic therapy . In the meantime secondary bacterial becomes uncontrollable. And some times this flared secondary bacterial infection doesn’t respond to any treatment.

Very elaborate description of fowl cholera.nice pictures.its occurrence in broiler breeder is common.Hot, humid ,marshy areas are more proven &some time becomes endemic.In acute & chronic cases hock joint swelling in males is alarming.In post mortem lesion along with septicaemia consolidation of lungs is common.Affected lungs sinks in water. wahmed ahmed Nice to hear from you. During hot weather, you will not hurt breeders with an air speed of 3 m/sec let alone 1.7 m/sec. An air speed of 1.7 m/sec is very likely to result in heat stress when house temperatures are 26 C or warmer. An air speed of 2.5 m/sec is considered by most as the minimum tunnel air speed for breeders.

This is an extremely bad behavior when birds learn how to pecking and cannibalise on other birds. The very important first way to manage this problem is to avoid the birds from learning it, this is because when the habit is learnt any small amount of stress will make the birds resort to pecking.
