Mycotoxins are well-known for their effects on monogastric animals. But ruminants, until recently, were considered as "protected" through the detoxification action of rumen flora.
However, recent scientific studies show that only 20 to 30% of mycotoxins are really detoxified in the rumen. These studies have also highlighted the mycotoxins depressor effects on ruminants performance.
