Very good article !!
Benefit of feed acidifier as well as water acidifier is well established in poultry, swine & aqua culture due to its unique mode of action.
-Reduces pH level in stomach and particularly in the small intestine thus inhibits growth of pathogenic bacteria.
-Reduces B-value of feed ingredients / Imparts positive effects on protein hydrolysis.
-Improves nutrient digestibility and assimilation.
-Helpful in metabolic function for energy generation.
-It is biodegradable.
Dietary Formulation will be better with protected direct acting organic acids with low pKa value.
The article on dietary acidifiers is very interesting and encouraging . I have been using calcium propionate as preservative without knowing this additional dietary benefits . I am now going to consolidate without fear.
