Break Stress before its strikes - Stresroak

Heat stress is a major welfare problem in poultry industry leading to huge economic losses every year, because of heavy mortality and decreased performance. High temperatures, especially when coupled with high humidity, imposes severe stress on broiler birds and lead to reduced performance. In the past few decades, a number of Ayurvedic herbal immunomodulators and antistressors have been extensively used in poultry to alleviate the negative effects of high environment temperature. Various herbal feed additives are better for feeding to broilers to improve weight gain, feed efficiency and feed intake. Supplementation of herbal plant extracts especially Andrographics paniculata and Tinospora cordifolia used to improve performance of broilers. Polyherbal products containing different immunomodulator (Withania somnifera), antistressor (Phyllanthus emblica, Mangifera indica) and adoptogenic (Ocimum sanctum) herbs have been used to enhance performance and decrease heat stress during summer season. The antistress and adaptogenic activity of these plants are proved and well documented through series of experiments in animal models of stress, both naturally occurring and contrived in the laboratory.

The immunomodulatory properties coupled with antistress and adaptogenic activities of these medicinal plants have been utilized in formulating Stresroak, to fight out stress and to counteract stress-induced changes in poultry bird without compromising the performance and productivity.

Observation: The cumulative body weight gains were significantly influenced by addition of herbal immunomodulators. It is established fact that herbs in the diets stimulate lactic acid bacteria and decreases pathogenic bacteria such as mesophilic aerobic, coliform and E. coli and thus improves absorption of nutrients leading to better weight gain. Adding antistress vitamins improved productivity and performance of broilers under summer stress.

Mostly mortality occurs during finisher phase and it is mainly due to humidity and heat stress.

From the present study, it can be concluded that supplementation of stresroak liquid significantly improved the cumulative weight gain, feed efficiency, decrease mortality and higher returns over feed cost than the control groups and other treatment groups during the summer season.
