Summary

Highlights

• Increased α-1-AGP levels in serum by LPS challenge was significantly reduced by AH root or fermented root (1 and 5%) supplementation.

• Up-regulated pro-inflammatory cytokines (IL-1, Il-6, IL-8, TNFSF15, LITAF) in small intestine by LPS challenge were significantly down-regulated by AH root or fermented root (1 and 5%) supplementation.

• Reduced expression levels of tight junction proteins (JAM2, Occludin) and MUC2 by LPS challenge were reversed by AH root or fermented root (1 and 5%) supplementation.
