Kemin Seminar at Mysore to address concerns in layer farming

A technical seminar was organized by Kemin Industries South Asia Pvt Ltd, in Mysore, in collaboration with the Mysore Poultry Farmers Club (MPFC). The seminar was to enhance awareness on the growing issue of egg breakages and increased incidences of chronic respiratory diseases (CRD) in layers. The seminar was presided over by Mr. Ramesh Babu, President, MPFC, and focused on imparting scientific knowledge to layer farmers on actual causes of egg breakages, consequent economic losses and judicious nutritional practices to minimize the same. The seminar included a detailed discussion on the outbreak of CRD, which is a matter of growing concern for layer farmers.
Mr. H.E. Dhananjaya, Kemin Senior Sales Manager welcomed the audience and gave a briefing about Kemin's products and services to address various issues in poultry and thereby ensure profitable layer farming. Dr. Sureshkumar, Kemin's General Manager for poultry discussed Kemin's robust scientific foundation and superior technical know-how in offering nutritional solutions. "Kemin has an extensive network of technical experts across India to provide practical help and support in devise feed formulations, addressing day to day issues in layer farming and implementing the right nutritional solutions for maximum effectiveness" remarked Dr. Suresh. He also gave a primer on Kemin's capabilities in segments such as ruminant, aquaculture, food technologies etc.

The key issue raised by customers during the seminar was the need for solutions to achieve better egg shell quality. Dr. Sumeet Bagga, KeminProduct Manager, elaborated on the right combination of effective layer farm management techniques, modifications in feed formulations and feed supplements to significantly increase egg shell quality and reap higher return on investments. "Egg breakages being an issue of significant economic impact in the layer industry, sound nutritional practices need to be combined with good management practices to harness the maximum return on investment", he said. Dr. Jayaraman Krishnarajan, KeminTechnical Head, discussed the issue of CRD and stressed the various preventive measures to keep CRD in control. CRD is a serious menace to poultry farm profitability, the topic opened up a detailed discussion with farmers raising thoughtful questions on preventive measures.. The session proved to be an interactive forum of technical knowledge sharing where farmers opened up about their CRD issues and Kemin's technical representatives offered practical strategy to address the same.
