Webinar: Economical and effective replacement for synthetic methionine.
Friday, 20 April 2018 at 2:30 pm. Indian Standard time.
With industrialization of poultry industry, the importance of essential amino acids and its role in reducing the percentage of crude protein in poultry feed to check nitrogen excretion in poultry farming revealed to the world due to the scientific efforts of the nutritionists and researchers.
Methionine is an essential amino acid which is vital for the growth and production of poultry. It has been also found that methionine play a vital role in expression of specific genes that makes an animal more productive. The optimization of feed through the extra addition of synthetic methionine has gradually increased due to high performance breeds. But synthetic methionine is produced by a chemical process which requires raw material like Acrolein, Methyl Mercaptan, Hydrocyanic Acid etc. which are class 6 carcinogens that are a threat to food safety and health. So use of herbal methionine for the organic poultry farming can play an important role in the safe and healthy food production. Introduction of herbal methionine in poultry farming contribute in taking a step towards production of safe, sustainable and healthy food production.
What exactly is a class 6 Carcinogen? The data I've looked at only goes up to group/class4, with Class 1 being most toxic. I've also been wondering for some time now, "how safe are synthetic amino-acids?" Have they ever been properly tested?
