Stephen Adejoro Dr The feed industry should ALSO ask for upstream mycotoxin mitigation strategies along with the binders. Contaminated feeds are also poorer in nutrient contents as compared to uncontaminated ones.

For poultry, I have formulated two mycotoxin binders namely Mycodetox B1 and Mycodetox B2 based on my decade's research on chickens, quails, turkeys and ducks. Both the binders ameliorated the adverse effects of aflatoxicosis in poultry and are equally efficaceous in ameliorating aflatoxicosis in these poultry species.

Some points to consider:
1. Pre-harvest minimization of aflatoxins has been achieved using biological control, Aflasafe (www.aflasafe.com).
2. There is decline of nutrients at moisture content used in this study.

Jonathan Tarus Pre-harvest aflatoxin intervention has been described (World Mycotoxin Journal, 2016; 9 (5): 771-789). Both insects and nutrient loses continue if moisture is not regulated after the harvest. A combination of pre-harvest biological control mentioned above and moisture regulation (dry chain) after harvest would be a preventive approach.
