Applying feed additives as a liquid can have a range of benefits for feed mills.
1. Ease of use: More flexibility and easier transfer of liquids in the process 2. Safety and hygiene: less dust emission and reduce product handling 3. Productivity: Handling IBCs requires less time than emptying bags for the same quantity of additives. 4. Environment: no more bags to dispose of 5. Feed quality: Higher dosage accuracy and optimal levels of homogeneity
At the recent World's Poultry Congress, Joan Brussosa from Mangra in Spain, Tom Hughes from the broiler and turkey integrator MoyPark in the UK and Ireland and Marc Perel and Pierre-André Geraert, both from Adisseo, debated this topic in further detail.
"When moving from dry to liquid feed additive application, the results and costs should be at least the same or better. In our pilot plant, we first evaluated the product efficacy of the liquids on bird performance and pellet characteristics before rolling out to our commercial farms. We see advantages in the cost price of our feed and better control of our costs. We also consider the more indirect cost savings regarding storage space and less handling and waste, compared to powders", Hughes addressed.
