The most basic approach to estimate daily dry matter intake is calculate (roughly) a 3% of the body weight. ( in the case of your cows = 18 kg of dry matter coming from roughage, remember IS A ESTIMATE) Splitting it In 3 meals/day. At the milking parlor you can give them a couple of kg. of concentrate every time the cows are going to be milked. IT'S A EXTREMELY BASIC RATION NOT CONSIDERING COSTS AND BALANCING NUTRIENTS.

Proper feeding to cows helps you to get the milk amount you are looking and please don't forget to vaccinate your by a vet.

The basics of feeding a dairy cow lie in the saying "more dry matter=more water=more milk=more money". This is a simple and more practical way to feed your cows if you don't have access to proprietary feeds or mixer wagon. And, don't worry the cows will balance the forage themselves. Just make sure both are available ad lib.

One question? What would be size of grounded corn, flour like or middle size with particles.
