by product means various & indeterminate ingredient. Trans esterification reaction produces by product...interesting in animal nutrition...but also ...Methanol ! In Dairy Cow the Glycerol (with Methanol) use increases the ketone bodies...that is to say the opposite effect of the usual food or feed grade Glycerol (without Methanol). Sometimes an economic solution has proved to be costly...
