Livestock Industry Foundation for Africa (L.I.F.A.) recently concluded its knowledge-sharing activities in multiple West African countries. Focusing on poultry health and nutrition, the activities also emphasized how climate change can affect the livelihoods of poultry farmers in sub-Saharan Africa.
The programme started in Nigeria between 2019-2021 in six agroecological regions funded by Zoetis’ African Livestock Productivity and Health Advancement (A.L.P.H.A.) initiative.
The Zoetis Foundation built on the success of Nigeria’s knowledge-sharing activities by continuing to support programs in Nigeria, as well as in six West African countries: The Gambia, Côte D'Ivoire, Liberia, Togo, Republic of Benin and Ghana, which focused on Avian Influenza and the need to improve biosecurity to help prevent the disease.
Dr. Stephen Adejoro, Founder and President of L.I.F.A., commends the efforts of the Zoetis Foundation to improve the local supply of animal protein and advance the livelihoods of livestock farmers in sub-Saharan Africa.
