The basics of Bacillus-based probiotic germination

Published: March 31, 2020
What is germination? Do all probiotics have to germinate to become active? Where exactly in the digestive tract must germination take place to provide benefits for animals? Are we sure that all Bacillus-based probiotics germinate in the gut of birds? Karoline SIDELMANN BRINCH, DVM, PhD, Science Manager at Novozymes Applied Research, Animal Health and Nutrition, and Damien PRÉVÉRAUD, PhD, Global Technical and Scientific Manager of Health by Nutrition at Adisseo answer these questions.

Thanks Dr. RAVI KUMAR AMERNENI for your question. No, our probiotic solution is only registered for chickens for fattening and chickens reared for laying, so this is where we have focused our research on germination. Regards.
