Poultryb salmanella pullorum and gallinarum are very species specific and do not affect other animals or human beings. These two are vertically transmitted. Easy to diagnose respond well for antibiotic treatment and post treatment the carriers can be identified with simple whole blood agglutination test using combined antigen. By testing these diseases are mostly eliminated from commercial poultry. Cage farming and nipple drinking system slowed down the spread of infection. Salmanella gallinarum 9R strain causes cellular immunity and protects the birds. This strain is being used for vaccination to control the disease in the endemic areas.
