USSEC consultants Craig Coon, professor of poultry science and nutrition at the University of Arkansas, and Gary Butcher, professor of avian diseases at the College of Veterinary Medicine, University of Florida, recently visited Tunisia. Dr. Coon and Dr. Butcher led a Poultry Diseases and Nutrition seminar and made field visits to a National Reference nutrition laboratory, feed mill, broiler farm, and layer and broiler breeder farms.
This seminar was organized in collaboration with the Tunisian Poultry Veterinarian Association, SSTMVA, and was attended by approximately 45 people from both the veterinarian and the feed sides, mainly representing poultry integrated companies, feed mills, and private and official veterinarians. The main topics discussed were current respiratory diseases and quality control of poultry feed.
Dr. Abdeljelil Ghram, president of the Tunisian Poultry Veterinarian Association said, “In addition to very useful field visits, the seminar was successful and the selected topics were directly related to the current situation in the Tunisian poultry and feed industry regarding difficult health status and deep changes in modern nutrition. The presentations were interesting and of a very high level.”
