
The Faculty of Veterinary Science is a world-class facility for veterinary and animal science teaching, research excellence and clinical veterinary services. It is recognised internationally as a leading provider of globally accredited veterinary education and is ranked as Australia’s leading veterinary school for research underpinning the health and disease management in animals.
The Poultry Research Foundation (PRF) provides an interface between the Australian poultry and allied industries and the faculty. The Foundation promotes industry related research, assists in the training of scientific personnel and provides industrial liaison directed at improving the nutrition, health and welfare of poultry.
The Lecturer (Level B) position will be responsible for teaching students and conducting research of national significance in poultry nutrition and production. The position will contribute to the activities of the PRF and develop strong research relationships with the Poultry Industry in Australia and our region.
This is an opportunity to join a well-established and successful group of clinical academics and veterinary professionals led by the PRF Director, Dr Peter Groves. The position is based predominantly on the Camden campus with some attendance at the Sydney campus for teaching responsibilities.
Responsibilities include:
- contributing to teaching in consultation with unit, year and degree coordinators in the disciplines of poultry nutrition and production, and related disciplines as required
- leading research on poultry nutrition and production and developing a research program by submitting research proposals for funding
- contributing to teaching and coordination of the Feed Technology Unit of Study for Animal Bioscience students, and poultry nutrition and production for Veterinary Biology and DVM students
- developing relationships with external stakeholders to guide the Faculty’s research profile in relevant disciplines related to Poultry Science
- attracting, supporting and supervising honours and postgraduate students through to completion of their degrees

To be successful in this position you will have:
- PhD in relevant area
- degree in animal or agricultural science, or equivalent, with post-graduate experience in animal nutrition, and relevant experience in the livestock feed industry in Australia or elsewhere
- proven experience in poultry nutrition research and knowledge and experience of the Poultry Industry
- publication record in high-quality international journals
- demonstrated capacity to undertake research relevant to the area of poultry nutrition
- experience in provision of high quality teaching for undergraduate or postgraduate students or extension to industry (desirable)
- experience in supervision of research higher degree students (desirable)
The position is full-time continuing subject to the satisfactory completion of a confirmation period for new appointees.
Remuneration package: $110K-131K (consisting of a base salary Level B of $93K – $111K, leave loading and up to 17% employer’s contribution to superannuation). Some assistance towards relocation cost and visa sponsorship may be available for the successful appointee if required. Level of appointment will be commensurate with experience and qualifications.
