The Shell Egg Academy (SEA) – In-Person Edition from Purdue University Extension is open now for registration!
SEA will be held September 26-28, 2023 at Purdue University in West Lafayette, Indiana. The educational event provides interactive class sessions on egg quality and food safety for farmers and egg companies that produce and process table eggs.
The three-day schedule provides a deep dive into a variety of egg quality topics for companies looking for training on:
Shell egg food safety on the production side
Sanitation
Food borne illness outbreaks
FDA’s Egg Rule
Egg quality impacts
Table egg industry trends from a consumer perspective
SEA will also provide plenty of networking opportunities with industry participants and expert speakers, regulatory agency personnel, and Purdue University faculty throughout the event.
You do not need to have attended a previous SEA to register. However, if you attended Virtual SEA in April, this is the perfect next step in your egg industry training as the topics will be expanded from the basics provided in the virtual session.
“Shell Egg Academy is truly a unique and intensive egg quality and egg safety training to the egg industry that is industry-driven and aims to fit the exact training needs that egg companies have for their employees,” said Dr. Darrin Karcher, SEA founder and Associate Professor and Poultry Extension Specialist at Purdue University. “Plus, the in-person SEA event is intentional about bringing together egg companies, academia, and regulatory agencies to learn from each other in a truly interactive experience.”
