Swollen Head Syndrome

Published: December 19, 2014

Some veterinarians opt for preparing an iodine solution and immerse the bird´ s head into it to treat this disease. Now I wonder if this treatment is actually effective. In my opinion, I don’t think this could work since this solution could cause tissue injury. What are your thoughts and experiences?

For poultry flocks vaccination is recommended. If after vaccination it is there, then inject the birds with pencillin group plus vitamin C in water. Bird head immersion in iodine solution makes no sense it may work. You can repeat live SHS vaccine along with above mentioned treatment.

Immersing the bird in Iodine solution is not correct. Find out the cause and treat appropriately. Do serology and rule out the causes Dr. Nagaraj
