The American Association of Avian Pathologists (AAAP) Annual meeting will be held on August 6-9, 2016 in San Antonio, Texas with the American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA) Annual Meeting.
The AAAP Meeting will begin with the symposium: "Emerging and Reemerging Zoonotic Diseases" that will be held on Saturday, August 6. This will be an update on zoonotic avian influenza outbreaks, particularly HPAI H5N1 and most recently, H7N9 outbreaks in humans in China.
The featured address for this symposium will be by Dr. Robert O'Connor. Also included will be a presentation on data collection and analysis for effective prevention and control of zoonotic diseases as well as on communicating science-based information to non-scientists e.g. legislators, the media, and the general public. The symposium will conclude with a presentation on the One Health Initiative.
The AAAP Scientific Program will take place from Sunday-Tuesday, August 7-9. The Keynote speaker will be Dr. Guillermo Zavala who's presentation is titled "Emerging and Reemerging Poultry Diseases: an International Perspective."
The 2016 Lasher-Eckrade History Lecture titled "The history of the first generation Marek's disease vaccines: the science and little known facts" will be presented by Dr. Karel A. Schat.
The Program will consist of oral and poster presentations on topics such as: Antibiotics, Avian Influenza, Avian Leukosis Virus, Bacteriology, Blackhead, Case Reports, Coccidiosis, Diagnostics, Food Safety, Gut Health, Immunology, Infectious Bronchitis Virus, Infectious Bursal Disease, Laryngotracheitis, Marek's Disease, Mycoplasma, Newcastle Disease Virus, Processing, Reovirus, Salmonella, Virology, Wealth of Knowledge, Welfare.
