RESPZZ Relieves Respiratory Distress

Published: February 7, 2014
By: Ayurvet
Stress along with Pathogens like mycoplasma gallisepticum (MG) is the perfect recipe for onset of Respiratory Diseases. Bird can victimize at any stage of life cycle. It may result in to severe respiratory distress, labored breathing, coughing, excessive mucous formation, loss of weight, high morbidity and mortality. Pathogens like MG spreads via horizontal transmission, through direct contact with infected birds and indirect contact with contaminated equipments, environment and personal. The infection enters a susceptible bird through upper respiratory tract or conjunctiva. Clinical signs of Chronic Respiratory Disease may include nasal discharge, coughing, rales, conjunctivitis, periorbital edema and eyelid edema etc. As disease progresses, generalized depression, in appetence, weight loss and drop in egg production occurs. Mortality in broilers may run as high as 10 or 20 percent of the flock. The heaviest losses occur in the first few weeks. The mortality among adult or laying birds is negligible, but the drop in their productivity means serious economic losses. Treatment with antibiotics like Tialosin, Enrofloxacin etc are responsive but the recurrence of CRD is concern when treatment is stopped. Antibiotic resistance is a further complicating the situation.
RESPZZ a natural and effective solution to the respiratory problem is also an alternative in cases of drug resistance.

An evaluation of a Respzz was done to judge the efficacy of Respzz as co-therapy in cases of CRD on 42 ten day old chicks. They were acclimatized for a period of 5 days and inoculated with 100 microlitre of log phase broth culture of MG. Thereafter 42 birds were made three groups as below:-

 Parameters Studied
Clinical Signs, Post-mortem lesions, Lectin histochemistry (Gives you information about mucus production) & performance parameters.
Results & Discussions
On post-mortem tracheitis, pneumonic changes and air sacculitis were observed in enrofloxacin group however in Respzz groups it were present in milder forms. Lectin histochemistry reveals that Respzz showed significantly low mucus production which was evidenced by very low staining by lectin when compared to enrofloxacin alone treatment. When Respzz was used as co-therapy overt lesions were not seen in any of the birds, mucus production and lectin reactivity were comparable to that of normal birds.
Performance parameters

Observations:-
  1. Respzz can be administered as preventive against CRD as Respzz group has very less number of birds showed signs of infection in post mortem.
  2. Antibiotic treatment may be responsive but effect on performance parameters were marginal when compared with Respzz treated groups.
  3. Respzz will give help to relive symptoms and thus will boost productivity in Newcastle disease, infectious bronchitis. Infectious laryngotracheitis, Avian Influenza, Mycoplasma, Coryza and Asperzillosis where there are respiratory discomforts.
Another Experiment to know alleviation in Lesion formation in Respiratory
Disease
Another experiment which was conducted at Veterinary Biological Research Institute, Hyderabad, India to ascertain effectiveness of conventional & alternative therapy in treatment of respiratory infections in poultry.
Details of experiments are as follows:
Experimental Design:
  • Commercial Broiler flock of 12000 birds affected by Respiratory disease were taken
  • Divided into 2 groups: A (Control) & B (Treated with RESPZZ)
  • Group A given treatment of antibiotics
  • Group B given alternative therapy of RESPZZ @ 20 ml/100 birds in drinking water for 5 days
Results
Lesions alleviations:

Interpretation: On 10th day post treatment, disease reoccur in control group whereas in RESPZZ treated group complete alleviation of lesions were noticed.
Symptoms Alleviation:

Interpretation: On 10th day post treatment, reoccurrence of symptoms of disease in control group whereas in RESPZZ treated group complete alleviation of symptoms were noticed.
Effectiveness of conventional & alternative therapy in treatment of respiratory infections in poultry

RESPZZ Relieves Respiratory Distress - Image 7

Interpretation: RESPZZ is providing better coverage and prompt recovery from respiratory disease and distress without reoccurrence. This is revealed by better final body weight (1890 g as compared to group A which have 1845 g), better FCR* (1.97 as compared to group A which have 2.03) and low mortality (50%) as compared to control group. Feed consumption was less in group B (3735 g/bird) as compare to group A (3760/bird) so net feed saved in 12000 birds=300 kg

How Respzz works
Among natural substances with antimicrobial properties, there is a group which is multiple and at the same time very differential regarding its chemical structure and properties, and which consists of oil substances. These compounds are contained by a fraction of oil plants, i.e. the one which contain essential oils in their cells, acquired by steam distillation from plant-based material. Oil components most frequently encountered in the plant world belong to chemical groups such as: monoterpenes (acyclic, monocyclic, dicyclic), sesquiterpenes, phenols (simple phenol alcohol), polyacetylene. They reveal plenty of valuable biological properties, including antimicrobial and antifungal effects.
These herbs are proven actions and being used from ancient time. Action of these herbs and RESPZZ again tested scientifically by University of life sciences, Lublin Department of preclinical veterinary medicine. The study confirm well-known properties of garlic and at the same time indicate its effectiveness in curbing bacteria, which are resistant to one or more antibiotics. Garlic is an efficient antibacterial action against numerous bacteria including Staphylococcus aureus, Streptococcus, Escherichia coli and Klebsiella pneumoniae. It also have some antifungal properties, it stops Candida albicans from spreading. Thymol stimulates pancreatic and gastric acid secretion as well as enteric enzymes. It stimulates the blood supply to stomach and bowels, lymph circulation in villi, and therefore it improves absorption of nutrients from bowels to blood and chyle. Moreover, it stimulates the immune system of gastrointestinal tract. Lately, it has gained a great meaning in livestock production and in veterinary, for parasites prophylaxis and as an alternative to antibiotic growth promoters.
Eucalyptol is the main compound of eucalyptus oil, which is acquired by steam distillation from the tree leaves of Eucalyptus globulus. This substance reveals strong antimicrobial activity as well as increased bronchial secretion, which helps expectoration. It also showed anti-inflammatory properties, as well as monoterpenes present in oil, having expectorant, anti-inflammatory and relaxant properties.
The influence of peppermint present in RESPZZ results in smooth muscle relaxation, and better intestinal motility. This also act as carminative. There are also increased gastric secretions, excretion of bile, and mucous gland secretions improvement. Leaves of peppermint have a property of expectorant and anti-inflammatoion. This herbs are to be applied in digestion disorders, abdominal cramps or intestinal colic. Liver and gall-bladder disorders. Inflammations in the mouth and throat.
Antimicrobial properties of camphor and camphor oil have been confirmed by research of various authors. The most sensitive to camphor oil among all types of Gram negative anaerobic bacteria were type cultures of Prevotella species, and most resistant were type cultures of Bacteroides and Veillonella. species.
Ocium sanctum increases gastric secretions. It prevents flatulency and regulates the activities of digestive system. It indicates gentle diastolic effect on gastrointestinal muscles. It also reveals weak carminative, antibacterial and anti-inflammatory effects.
