Days ago, the XXIII edition of the World Poultry Congress was held in Queensland (Australia), organized by the World Poultry Science Association (WPSA), with the main objective of promoting researching and scientific and technical exchange among top specialists and professionals of the poultry industry, and currently being one of the most active and renowned organizations globally. At this time, it counts on more than 7,000 members, all of them technicians, professionals and researchers of the poultry area, from more than 70 countries.
Multiple lecturers have participated of the Congress, professionals from Latin American such as Dr. Julian Melo (Bedson SA, Argentina), Jose Augusto Lima de Sa (Sadia SA, Brasil), Joaquin Luis Navarro (National University of Cordoba, Argentina); and Marta Jaramillo (Venezuela), among many others.
Opening Session
Another aim of the Congress is to contribute for a better knowledge and assessment of the poultry industry and products by the entire society. Members of the WPSA strongly believe that this objective must be active in defense of the good practices for production, which directly echo on the poultry products' quality and the food safety.
Around 1,300 delegates attended the 2008 edition of the Congress, which is held every 4 years in different venues, and whose organizer is designed with a 8-year notice. Brazil was designed 4 years ago to organize WPC 2012.

Argentinian professional Julian Melo (left below) has presented the paper: "Evaluation of growth, food intake and body composition of three commercial broiler strains", whose authorship belongs to him and colleagues Francisco Lamouroux, Ariel Demarco, Valeria Fassa, Ezequiel Romano, and María C. Miquel (UBA).
Venezuelan professional Marta Jaramillo (right above) made a presentation about mycotoxins and broiler chicken: "Individual and combined effects of aflatoxin and DAS in broiler chickens".

Together with the WPC, it was presented the biggest commercial exhibition ever seen in Australia for this industry, with a covered surface of 5,000 m2 in an adjacent place.
