Effectiveness of Bacillus licheniformis-Fermented Products and Their Derived Antimicrobial Lipopeptides in Controlling Coccidiosis in Broilers (Extract)

Published: January 4, 2022
Summary
Coccidiosis is an important health problem in broilers, caused by infection with a highly contagious intestinal parasite of the genus Eimeria. Anti-coccidial drugs are widely used for the prevention of coccidiosis in broilers. However, multi-resistance coccidia is a potential threat to poultry production.  Solid-state fermented products produced from B. licheniformis not only contain B. ...

Thanks for your question.
Yes, lipopeptide from BLFP is thermostable compound, our company also has done some research in this area. After heating at 100° for 30 minutes, LC-MS can still analyze the lipopeptide, we call the lipopeptide "Surfactin".

Thanks for your question.
Yes, surfactin also work on the clostridium perfringens. Please refer to our article "Antibacterial activity of Bacillus species-derived surfactin on Brachyspira hyodysenteriae and Clostridium perfringens". This paper provides evidence that surfactin has antibacterial activity against C. perfringens.

In fig-2 we saw the squeezed oocyst. What's the actual mode of action of this product, either osmosis or floating the cells in intestine? Also have its effects on probiotic or other nutritional compound?

Hello Saifur Rahaman. Thank you for your message.
Surfactin is a kind of biosurfactant and composed of amphiphile compounds which contain both hydrophobic and hydrophilic groups within the molecule. The amphiphile feature of surfactin can change the oocyst’s surface tension and eliminate oocyst sporulation and disrupt the oocyst morphology. Please refer to our official website (www.liferainbow.com.tw) for more information.
