Greg F. Mathis graduated with a BS from North Georgia College. He then worked for the United States Department of Agriculture. He later enrolled at the University of Georgia and earned his MS and PhD in the Department of Poultry Science. His PhD work centered on control of coccidiosis, specializing in epidemiology, anticoccidial drugs, and genetics. After receiving his PhD he started Southern Poultry Research Inc., a private contract poultry research company. Southern Poultry Research Inc. has now been in business more than 25 years and serves the pharmaceutical and poultry industries.
